To be trusted, technology needs to be effective and must be seen as a solution to a problem. COVID-19 has accelerated this conversation to the next level and we have seen wide-spread adoption of digital technologies, with an increased willingness of the population to embrace these concepts. The challenge, then, will be to hold on to these gains. In order to so, we must develop a nuanced, risk-based, modernised regulatory framework, that fosters trust, creates an environment that supports faster patient access, improves safety and positions the UK as an attractive investment and launch market.
