SUMMARY:Preparing your NHS Business Case
DESCRIPTION:This interactive and informative event on ‘Preparing your NHS Business Case’ will enable you to prepare better business cases with input from the EMAHSN staff. \nThis free to attend event is being held as part of the ACTIS programme – a project part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund\, click here to be re-directed to further information about the project. \nDuring the event you will also learn about: \n– What is a business case\, what is its purpose and why it is so important? \n– Who reviews the business case and how are they evaluated from a commissioning point of view? \n– How to construct a good business case \nThe Challenge as a supplier to the NHS is often that when you have a product which from your perspective improves patient outcomes and saves cost you still cannot get it adopted by the NHS. This is often because there is not a fully developed business case\, without this a group within the NHS interested in taking on board a new product or service are unlikely to get approval of the case for change before procurement of the innovation can proceed. \nOrganisations that supply to the NHS are often challenged by the process\, timescales\, evidence and documentary requirements. This can often seem like an unnecessary complication\, or simply a reason to not issue a purchase order. A good business case is fundamental to successful adoption and developing a long term business partnership. Preparing the business case can also be difficult for your NHS contacts because they are busy or not experienced in their preparation and often even more difficult for companies with little or no experience of the process. \nProgramme \nSpeaker Profiles \nPlaces are restricted to one delegate per organisation only.  \n  \nBook Now \n  \nNon-Attendance: should you book on Medilink East Midlands events and fail to attend on two occasions without letting us know\, we reserve the right to refuse to accept bookings from your organisation in the future.

SUMMARY:Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund - Healthy Ageing Event
DESCRIPTION:MediWales & Innovate UK are running an event to support the call for applications and consortiums for the ‘Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund – Healthy Ageing’.\n\nThe largest element of the £98m Healthy Ageing programme\, funded by the government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF)\, is the ‘Trailblazer’ projects.  £40m will be invested to stimulate new ideas from a wide range of businesses and social enterprises to develop and deliver products\, services and business models at a large scale to support people as they age.  ISCF is led by UK Research and Innovation. \nThe event will be held in Cardiff on the 8th October and led by Cynthia Bullock\, Senior Innovation Lead – Enabling Programmes in the Ageing Society\, Health & Nutrition at Innovate UK who will also be available for 1- 1 meetings on the day. \nThe ISCF Healthy Ageing Challenge will stimulate new ideas for products\, services and business models\, to help us live healthier\, happier and more independent lives as we age. \nOne third of children born this year are expected to live to 100. By 2040\, around one in seven people in the UK are projected to be over the age of 75 (rising from one in 12 today)\, but ageing should not be seen as a burden on society. SUMMARY:NEWS in your community: monitoring and supporting patients across all healthcare settings
DESCRIPTION:MediWales is collaborating with the West of England Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) to deliver this conference which will focus on monitoring and supporting patients outside the hospital setting (at home\, in nursing and care homes) to specifically enable the measurement of vital signs to calculate a Nation Early Warning Score (NEWS) which is used when delivering care. \nFree delegate places are available to NHS professionals\, research and industry communities\, from both sides of the bridge. We would also like to extend an invitation to companies who have or are developing various approaches to track vital signs. Though this is not about intensive care monitoring – during the event it will be considered how these tools could be used in a community setting. This would include the recording of observations\, dashboards\, wearable devices\, remote monitoring\, devices that aid recording of observation or identifying deterioration with a particular interest in wearable and non-contact tech for those with Learning Disabilities. \nThis event will discuss the challenges and technical issues faced in the community care setting and look at the development of potential clinical / industry collaborations to address the issues in this area. There will also be information on the support and funding available to take projects forward. \nHear from speakers from the AHSN who will present their work on the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) and from Welsh clinical colleagues who will showcase their plan going forward. An insightful look at where automation of technologies and clinical pathways could be accessible to improve an ever evolving process. \nWho is this event for? \n60 – 80 delegates\, NHS\, research and industry communities \n Objectives of the event: \n\nDiscuss the challenges and technical issues\nLook at development of potential clinical/ industry collaborations to address the issues in this area\nInformation on support and funding available to take projects forward\n\nProgramme: \nDelegate Information\nMediWales & West of England Collaboration Event \nWe are looking forward to welcoming you to ‘NEWS in your community’. Please see below the relevant information for the upcoming event.\n\nVenue\nCeltic Manor Golf Club – Augusta Suite\nColdra Woods\nNewport\nNP18 1HQ\n\nDirections & Parking\nDetails on directions to the venue and parking information can be found here.Free parking for the Golf Club is available in the Golf Academy Car parkTimings\nRegistrations begins at 8.30am and the opening introduction starts at 9.30am.
