SUMMARY:Geldards GDPR & Cyber Security Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join MediWales and Geldards for this workshop providing key advice on the new GDPR framework. \n  \n9:30 am \nRegistration \n10:00am  \n“Data Protection & GDPR Overview for the Life Sciences Sector” – Lowri Phillips & Helen Snow\, Partner and Senior Associate at Geldards LLP \nSo what is the GDPR? The Information Commissioner has called it a “game changer for everyone”. The GDPR is the new EU data protection framework which harmonises standards across all Member States. The GDPR will directly apply in the UK from 25 May 2018. As an organisation in the Life Sciences Sector you will not only be dealing with personal data but you are also likely to be processing sensitive personal data or special categories of data such as genetic\, biometric or health data\, which is given additional protection under the GDPR. Although May 2018 may seem like a long way off\, there is much to be done in terms of preparation. Once it comes in it will have an immediate impact and certain breaches could result in fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover. It is\, therefore\, something that should be on your radar now. \n11:15am \nCoffee Break \n11:45am \n“The role of the Data Protection Officer\, Cyber Security and Data Breach Reporting” – Matthew Phillips Data Protection Officer at Alert Logic \nUnder the GDPR it is a requirement for organisations whose core activities consist of processing special categories of data on a large scale to appoint a DPO. Matthew Phillips\, Data Protection Officer at Alert Logic\, will discuss the responsibilities and requirements of the DPO under the GDPR and will consider the importance of Cyber Security in the post GDPR era of mandatory breach reporting. \n12:30pm \nLunch \n  \nThis workshop is free to attend. For any questions\, please contact Isabelle. \n  \nFill out my online form.\nUse Wufoo templates to make your own HTML forms.

SUMMARY:Wales Festival of Innovation: MediWales & KTN - The Bionic Clinician
DESCRIPTION:Delivered by MediWales and KTN\, ‘The Bionic Clinician’ takes place on 19th June at Novotel\, Cardiff as part of the Wales Festival of Innovation \nClick here to view the event flyer \nThe event explores the increase in the ‘man-machine interaction’ in healthcare delivery\, and will be chaired by Dr R Ramanan\, a clinician\, cardiac surgeon\, professor associated with bioengineering and the MD of Innovative Solutions in Informatics (ISIS) Ltd. \nLooking back at developments since he qualified as a clinician in the seventies\, when doctors relied on their stethoscope and their instinct\, Dr Ramanan reflects on how technology has transformed the way that we practice and deliver healthcare. \nLaboratory tests were a feat of labour and manual dexterity\, extremely time-consuming and tedious. Most of the things we take for granted today – CTs\, MRIs\, ultrasound\, echocardiography\, PET scans\, high-power computing\, digital data\, lab-on-a-chip\, artificial intelligence\, and the cloud were not designed\, discovered\, or developed. \nThe 21st century clinician is inextricably linked to and dependent on technology to deliver care that is safe and standardised. As the boundary between the clinician and technology become increasingly blurred\, this event predicts a future whereby the clinician becomes truly bionic. \nProgramme: \n\n9.00am – 9.30am Registration\n9.30am – 9.40am Gwyn Tudor\, CEO\, MediWales\, Welcome\n9.40am – 10.05am Professor Rams Ramanan\, Clinician\, Cardiac Surgeon\, Professor associated with Brunel Institute for Bioengineering\, and Director of Innovative Solutions in Informatics Ltd\, Bionic Clinician\, The Man-Machine Interface\n10.05am – 10.30am Ian Risk\, VP\, Head of Airbus Group Innovations UK\, Flying by association\, Healthcare & Aviation\n10.30am – 10.55am Paul Thomas\, Enterprise Architect\, Microsoft\, The Connected Body\n10.55am – 11.20am Morning break with technology demonstrations\n11.20am – 11.45am Eugene Butans\, Department of Advanced Engineering\, Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM)\, Optimal Health\n11.45am – 12.00pm Chris Sawyer\, Lead Technologist\, Health & Care\, Innovate UK\, Everything you wanted to know about… but were afraid to ask\n12.00pm – 12.20pm Sarb Sembhi\, Director\, STORM Guidance\, ‘Don’t be scared\, be very afraid’ or should you?
