SUMMARY:5th Annual MarketsandMarkets Infection Control\, Sterilization and Decontamination in Healthcare Congress
DESCRIPTION:Addressing challenges associated with adoption & implementation of new technologies to fight Healthcare Associated Infections\n\nAround 1 in 20 (6%) of patients are affected by preventable harm in medical care\, of which around 12% causes permanent disability or death\, according to a study published by The BMJ. These infections are contracted by an estimated 1.7 million patients annually and responsible for 99\,000 deaths each year. \nPreventing disease and controlling spread of resistant bacteria is of major importance when tackling antibiotic resistance.  Already\, AMR infections are estimated to cause 700\,000 deaths each year globally\, which is predicted to rise to 10 million\, alongside a cumulative cost of $100 trillion\, by 2020 if no action is taken. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur speaker panel will address challenges associated with adoption & implementation of new technologies to fight Healthcare Associated Infections\, gathering global hospitals presenting case studies\, technologies and innovations to fight possibilities of HAIs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe congress will attract Directors\, Heads\, Doctors\, Nurses\, Consultants\, Clinical Lead\, Deputy Manager from Infection Control\, Sterilization\, Decontamination and Endoscopy departments across UK and Europe. \n\n\n\n\n\nNHS is making a lot of attempts to reuse device-related Healthcare Associated Infections through its standardized training and efficient decontamination process\, but are the primary problems-are we really implementing our method and achieving decontamination efficacy and making the hospital environment free from infection? The 5th Annual MarketsandMarkets Infection Control\, Sterilization and Decontamination in Healthcare Congress aims at providing a platform to all the stakeholders\, to discuss the challenges in maintaining the infection free environment in the hospitals and effective ways to reduce the chances of healthcare associated infections through contaminated medical devices. \nFor more information\, click here.

Only the best and most promising solutions from this event will be invited and supported to apply for funding.  We are well placed to support you and will be looking for solutions. \nIn practice\, the Covid Hack Panel will select winners on the day. \nWinners may be contacted later and invited to apply for support and/or funding. \n  \nPanel Judging guidance \nChris Martin will chair the panel. \nParticipants have been told\, if you want to impress the judges: \n\nClear connection to Covid effort\, & “You snooze\, you lose”!\nAll in it together\nHow well is the patient’s perspective understood\nPotential for large scale impact\, Integrated care\, services in the community\, financial savings\, backlog tsunami\nAwyr Las funding is only available in BCUHB\n\n  \nIn Advance \nPrepare your Pitch \nYOU MAY NOT USE POWERPOINT. \nYOU WILL HAVE 2 MINUTES TO PITCH. \nWE WILL CUT YOU OFF AT TWO MINUTES (HARSH BUT TRUE) \nGET PATIENTS TO JOIN YOUR TEAM (if you can) \nPrepare your pitch… You should seek to endear yourself to the audience by clearly articulating your challenge\, making your pitch sharp\, crisp\, and entertaining.   I suggest: \n\nStart with your Name and who you are\nWhat is your challenge\nWhy your challenge is important\nWhy come to work with me\nWhat I need from other people…e.g. skills\, enthusiasm\, knowledge\n\nA very long time ago\, an old Greek bloke said the key to human influence\, or engaging an audience\, is found in the three modes of persuasion: \nEthos     – demonstrating trustworthiness through action \nPathos   – understanding the humanity of the situation \nLogos     – being able to articulate meaning to engage others \n  \nDay 1 – 14 May \nPitches will start at about 19:10 \nYou have TWO minutes to pitch – I will hold you to two minutes \nYour objective is to get the audience (Industry/ University/ Developer/ Data Analyst/ Designer/ Informatics people) to want to work with you \nYou cannot use Powerpoint \nAfter the pitches\, the organisers will move you to a breakout room.  We will give your breakout room a number on the day based on the order in which you pitch. \nThe audience (Industry/ University/ Developer/ Data Analyst/ Designer/ Informatics people) will be invited to join you. \nTo help chivvy things along all participants should update their name on Zoom to show: \n–       Name \n–       Organisation \n–       Skills / knowledge / super power \nYou can do this by right clicking on your video and selecting ‘rename’. \nThe audience will join and leave your room throughout the rest of the event. \nYou will have a facilitator in your room.  They will be the one wearing a hat! \nThe facilitator’s role is to answer questions and help where they can. \nThe organisers will try to encourage people to come to your room – but we can’t force them! \nYour role is to form a team of collaborators.  Your team will work with you to prepare a solution/proposal by Day 2 on 20 May. \nIn addition to the pitch specific breakout rooms there will be an audience/collaborator breakout room.  You may navigate to this other room I you wish. \nIf you have colleagues taking part it may be worth splitting up to see what else is going on. \nThe organisers (that’s me and the hat wearing facilitators) will help you find the people you need. \nRemember that you have until the presentations on 20 May to form a team. \n  \nQuestion and Answer Sessions \nZoom Links for the Q&A Sessions are on: \n15 May            15:00 – 16:00              https://swanseauniversity.zoom.us/j/98294268036                                                             Meeting ID: 982 9426 8036 \n18 May            15:00 – 16:00 \n19 May            15:00 – 16:00 \n20 May            15:00 – 16:00 \nThese unimaginatively named sessions are to do exactly what it says on the tin! \nThey are also intended as a way of finding collaborators\, joining new teams\, and finding skills for your team that you don’t have. \nYou do not need to register.  Just click on the link and join. \nONLY JOIN THE QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSIONS IF YOU WANT TO! \n  \nPreparing for Day 2 \nMore Networking\, Forming Teams\, and getting on with it. \nNow’s the time to get on with some real work. \nDevelop solutions to your operational or clinical challenge. \nRemember that teams might be dynamic.  In other words\, they may change over time and you may find that people will be a part of couple of teams. \nPrepare your presentation… You should seek to endear yourself to the audience by clearly articulating your challenge\, making your pitch sharp\, crisp\, and entertaining. \nYOU MAY USE POWERPOINT to present \nYou have SIX MINUTES IN TOTAL. \nI recommend that you keep your presentation to less than 2 minutes.  This will give the panel time to ask questions.  In other words\, you take up all the time guessing what the panel will be interested in or you can give them time and let them ask! \nIF YOU ARE USING POWERPOINT\, WE WILL ASK YOU TO SHARE YOUR SCREEN WHEN IT’S TIME FOR YOUR PRESENTATION. \n  \nDay 2 – 20 May \nPresentations will start at about 19:05. \nThe Judging Panel is Chaired by Bevan Commissioner Chris Martin. \nParticipant teams will have 2 minutes to present their solution. \nThe panel\, will have 4 minutes to ask questions. \nAfter all the presentation the panel will retire to a breakout room to make decisions.  We will set aside 30 minutes for the panel to deliberate. \nDuring this time participants will be able to vote for their favourite solutions using Zoom poll\, talk amongst themselves\, or make a cup of tea or something. \nDecisions will be made based on the guidance referenced above \nThe winners will be announced at about 20:30.  This exact time will depend on the number of presentations. \n  \nPost Event \nThere is no guaranteed funding \nWinning at the Hack means that you may be invited to work with Awyr Las\, Welsh Government\, Accelerate\, AgorIP\, DHEW\, BCUHB SBRI\, and maybe others. \nWe are looking for great solutions to support. \nOnly the best and most promising solutions from this event will be invited and supported to apply for funding. \nWe are well placed to support you and will be looking for solutions. \nWinners may be contacted later and invited to apply for support and/or funding. \nIntellectual property needs to be negotiated between partners.  Do not make assumptions about intellectual property – make agreements. \n  \nRegister here
