SUMMARY:MedTech Regulatory and Cybersecurity Workshop
DESCRIPTION:MediWales are holding a MedTech Regulatory and Cybersecurity Workshop on the 20th November at the Maltings\, Cardiff. \nThis workshop offers practical guidance on navigating privacy and security requirements\, focusing on both organisational strategies and product specific compliance needs. \nDraft programme: \n9:00 – 9:30am: Registration and refreshments \n Privacy & Security Standards and Compliance requirements for Medical Devices – Radharamanan Hariharan\, MQMS \nSecure software development in Medical Devices – David Hawkins\, Sotas \nGroup Exercise – Implementing Risk Management and a C\, I & A approach \nBreak \nGroup Activity Discussion on Risk Management \nThrough-Life Product Security: Experience from other sectors – Sarah Harford and Graham Jefferies\, Frazer-Nash Consultancy \nPlanning and Strategy: Project Planning for Internationalisation – Prof. Laurie Rowe\, Red Medtech \nPost release and post market surveillance for cybersecurity – David Hawkins\, Sotas \nPanel: next steps and conclusion \nLunch \nNote: 1-2-1 sessions to address firm/product specific queries can be arranged after lunch. \nProtecting sensitive patient data is crucial in today’s healthcare landscape\, especially given the rising threat of cybersecurity incidents like ransomware attacks. Compliance with established standards such as ISO 27001 and regulatory guidelines from bodies like the UK MHRA and US FDA has become increasingly important. This need is raised by the integration of AI in medical devices\, which is guided by standards like ISO 42001 to ensure security and safety. \nIn addition to internal cybersecurity measures\, organizations must also assess their supply chain security\, as supply chain attacks are becoming more prevalent across all sectors\, including healthcare. By implementing attack surface management\, organizations can identify and assess public-facing vulnerabilities in a non-invasive manner\, providing valuable insights for compliance audits and high-level risk assessments. \nIt is essential for anyone handling protected health information to have a solid understanding of relevant privacy and security regulations. Non-compliance can result in significant financial and reputational damage\, making comprehensive training vital for embedding a culture of privacy and security throughout the organization. \nUltimately\, regulations aim to empower patients by granting them greater control over their health information\, including rights to access and correct it. Ensuring compliance involves the implementation of robust physical\, network\, and administrative security measures. By fostering a culture of awareness and diligence around data protection\, healthcare organizations can not only meet regulatory requirements but also build trust with patients and stakeholders\, enhancing their overall reputation in the industry. \nIf you are interested in learning more about the privacy and security regulations that are essential in this day and age\, register for our MedTech Regulatory and Cybersecurity Workshop here. \nThis event is free for MediWales members to attend. Non-members will be charged £150 + VAT per delegate.

SUMMARY:Abel + Imray: Tips for reviewing and building an effective trade mark portfolio
DESCRIPTION:Abel + Imray are holding a webinar on the 5th December about “Tips for reviewing and building an effective trade mark portfolio”. \nYou don’t have to be the owner of a historic brand or a huge trade mark portfolio to benefit from a regular trade mark portfolio review. Almost all businesses have a brand name\, and many have a logo\, and they are likely to have built up a reputation in those brands that they will want to protect. Like reviewing insurance cover\, it makes sense for every business to spend a little time every few years to make sure that the right protection is in place in the right territories for the right marks\, in respect of the right goods and services. \nThis bitesize webinar will cover: \n\nWhat you should register: marks\, territories\, goods/services\, and how to prioritise\nCreating a tailored trade mark filing strategy\nKeeping your existing portfolio fit for purpose\n\nThis webinar is aimed at businesses who: \n\nHave a range of different branded product or service lines\nExport goods\, or trade in multiple jurisdictions\nOr just haven’t thought about registered trade mark protection yet\, or for a while\n\nIf you would like to learn more about the webinar or register\, please click here.

SUMMARY:2025 BioInfect Conference
DESCRIPTION:Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the top global public health and development threats. According to a 2022 article published in the Lancet\, it is estimated that bacterial AMR was directly responsible for 1.27 million global deaths in 2019 and contributed to 4.95 million deaths. \nAntimicrobial resistance: a growing issue \nThe misuse and overuse of antimicrobials in humans\, animals and plants are the main drivers in the development of drug-resistant pathogens. \nWithout effective tools for the prevention and adequate treatment of drug-resistant infections and improved access to existing and new quality-assured antimicrobials\, the number of people for whom treatment is failing or who die of infections will increase. Medical procedures\, such as routine surgery (including caesarean sections or hip replacements)\, cancer chemotherapy\, and organ transplantation\, will become more risky. \nWhy attend BioInfect? \nThe agenda at BioInfect will focus on the issues surrounding the increasing threat of AMR and how it can be addressed\, including working towards an integrated\, unifying approach that aims to achieve optimal and sustainable health outcomes; antimicrobial stewardship; increased investment and innovation in new treatments at all stages of the drug development pipeline and ensuring ROI in the development of new antimicrobials; and the use of strategic information to inform the AMR response.
