SUMMARY:Medilink SW & SBRI Healthcare Bristol Briefing Seminar: Reducing Pressure on Urgent and Emergency Care
DESCRIPTION:A new round of Small Business Research Initiative for Healthcare (SBRI Healthcare) competitions have been launched by the SBRI Healthcare programme team. \nThis competition round will focus on Reducing Pressure on Urgent and Emergency Care\, selected in partnership with the Academic Heath Science Networks across England. \nSplit into three categories\, these competition themes focus on potential areas where technology solutions can play a role and where we complement other funding initiatives that have an impact on this area\, such as DALLAS and the recent SBRI Healthcare calls in areas such as falls and incontinence in the frail elderly. \nIn consultation with clinicians\, paramedics\, GPs and operations managers working in emergency admissions\, we have identified three challenge themes (“categories”) where there is the potential for innovative solutions to reduce pressures on emergency services. \n\nThe first challenge resides in primary care support and aims to reduce the number of people attending A&E in the first place.\nThe second challenge looks to manage the distribution of cases arriving at A&E at any one time and so manage the flow of patients into the department.\nThe third challenge looks at improving the access to the clinical decision maker and if appropriate the flow through A&E and onto the wards or for discharge. Although this challenge doesn’t reduce the flow itself\, it does give a measure of the resources that are required\, and therefore can be planned for.\n\nWhilst some projects in these category areas are already underway\, there is a sense that more needs to be done and integration with other systems is key. We expect applicants to learn from these projects and to address the gaps and shortfalls in their proposals. \nFor further information on the competition\, please click here to view the briefing document \nAttend this seminar to gain an understanding of: \n\nThe clinical challenges in each of the competition themes\nThe key requirements of each call\nHow SBRI Healthcare  works\, the application process and important deadlines\n\nThis event is free to attend but pre-registration is essential. Click here to register. \nFor further information please contact Claire Laing – 01275 370 798

SUMMARY:The FT Global Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Conference
DESCRIPTION:The FT Global Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Conference\, now in its 33rd successful year\, is a must-attend for industry executives\, thought leaders and investors wishing to keep abreast of the emerging trends reshaping the global healthcare and life sciences industry. \nAs the global healthcare industry shifts and transforms\, so too must the life science industry.  Life science companies will need to adjust strategies to a world in which only true innovation and improved patient outcomes become the key determinant of value in the healthcare system. They will also need to develop commercial models which take account of the changing power balance between provider\, payer and patients-all the while keeping a watchful eye on the competitive landscape for the incursion of non-traditional players with whom they will increasingly compete-or partner- to deliver patient-centred products and services. Meanwhile\, scrutiny of high prices for speciality drugs and advanced technologies is increasing\, impacting the ability of life science companies to bring much needed innovation to patients. \nHow will the industry’s future unfold? \n20% discount for MediWales members \nFind out more and register here after getting your 20% discount code from enquiries@biopartner.co.uk
