SUMMARY:Bionow Precision Medicine Conference
DESCRIPTION:The business of precision medicine – Visioning the Future \nThis inaugural Bionow Precision Medicine Conference\, co-hosted by the Northern Health Science Alliance\, will focus on the impact which this exciting area has on patients and given the strengths in the North\, will also examine precision medicine as a key tool in reducing the North / South economic differential. \nParticipants will consider how key developments in the area can become an economic reality to deliver new standards of care for patients\, also how and when P4 Medicine might come to fruition. \nThe event will feature sessions looking in depth at Precision Medicine in the key areas of inflammatory disease\, cancer\, cardiovascular / metabolic\, infection\, health economics and clinical trials. Drawing upon experts from the academic\, clinical and industry arenas the event will appeal to experts in the field as well as those looking to broaden their understanding of the business-related opportunities of bringing new products to patients. \nPrecision Medicine is an emerging approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes\, environment\, and lifestyle for each person. This approach allows doctors and researchers to predict more accurately which treatment and prevention strategies for a particular disease will work best in specific groups of people. P4 Medicine will further revolutionise medicine and build upon the opportunity to deliver care which is Predictive\, Preventive\, Personalized and Participatory. \nConference Agenda\n09.00 – Registration\n09.30 – Welcome Address\n09.35 – Keynote Address\n10.00 – Parallel Sessions: Inflammatory Diseases\n10.00 – Parallel Sessions: Cardiovascular / Metabolic\n11.00 – Coffee\, Networking & Exhibition\n11.30 – Stratified Clinical Trials\n12.30 – Lunch\, Networking & Exhibition\n13.30 – Keynote Address\n14.00 – Parallel Sessions: Cancer\n14.00 – Parallel Sessions: Infection & Adverse effects of drugs\n15.00 – Coffee\, Networking & Exhibition\n15.30 – Health Economics\n16.30 – The future landscape – How do Industry\, Investors\, the NHS & Academia work together to maximise impact?\n17.15 – Closing Remarks\n17.30 – Close \nDelegate Prices\nPremium Member: £115.00 + VAT\nMember: £145.00 + VAT\nNon-member: £250.00 + VAT \nUnited Life Science members will receive a 10% discount. \nRegister here \nFor details of the sponsorship opportunities available at the conference please contact Helen Williams.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Standardisation of serum tumour markers – optional extra or essential?
DESCRIPTION:International Standards (IS) and International Reference Preparations help to improve between-laboratory comparability of immunoassay results and can also enable better understanding of what is being measured. The good agreement between results observed for AFP and PSA markers reflects the availability of appropriately constituted International Standards for these important tumour markers. Those for hCG are also contributing to optimal design of the next generation of hCG immunoassays. Unfortunately\, however\, there are as yet no International Standards for CA125\, CA19-9 and other mucinous markers for which between-method agreement is poor. \nIn this Webinar Dr. Catharine Sturgeon will consider why this is the case and what collaborative international initiatives are required to fill the gap. \nReserve your place today\, to make sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity to hear from an industry expert\, about the importance of standardisation to assay performance. \nKey Learning Points \n\nBenefits of tumour marker standardisation\nCurrent use and reporting of tumour markers\nHow to improve tumour marker standardisation\n\nClick here for more information and to register.
