SUMMARY:Celtic Connection: A snapshot of Irish and Welsh Life Sciences
DESCRIPTION:Celtic Connection brings together Life Sciences experience from Wales and Ireland\, as well as leading experts\, academics\, investors and advisors. It will enable businesses from across Wales and Ireland to learn more about trading in these two regions and explore potential for increasing trade\, growth and routes to market. \nDuring the morning session public and private support organisations will lay out what help is available to address the known challenges and opportunities that exist in the sector.  The focus will be on identifying the strengths and potential of Welsh/Irish collaboration. \nThe afternoon concentrates on specific key challenges\, accompanied by real case studies offered by experienced companies who have already trodden that path. There will be two interactive panel sessions on Intellectual Property and Funding. These will consist of a short introduction from an expert in each field from both Wales and Ireland\, followed by a relevant case study from each country and then open discussion and questions. The chance to network is a key part of Celtic Connection and further information will follow to those who have booked a place. \nThe event is enabled by the British Irish Chamber of Commerce and the South and Mid Wales Chambers of Commerce in partnership with the Life Sciences Hub Wales\, the CALIN Project (Celtic Advanced Life Science Innovation Network)\, and the Knowledge Transfer Network. It is timed to coincide with the MediWales Connects NHS Collaboration Conference in Cardiff on the 21st June\, to encourage companies to attend both. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Geldards GDPR & Cyber Security Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join MediWales and Geldards for this workshop providing key advice on the new GDPR framework. \n  \n9:30 am \nRegistration \n10:00am  \n“Data Protection & GDPR Overview for the Life Sciences Sector” – Lowri Phillips & Helen Snow\, Partner and Senior Associate at Geldards LLP \nSo what is the GDPR? The Information Commissioner has called it a “game changer for everyone”. The GDPR is the new EU data protection framework which harmonises standards across all Member States. The GDPR will directly apply in the UK from 25 May 2018. As an organisation in the Life Sciences Sector you will not only be dealing with personal data but you are also likely to be processing sensitive personal data or special categories of data such as genetic\, biometric or health data\, which is given additional protection under the GDPR. Although May 2018 may seem like a long way off\, there is much to be done in terms of preparation. Once it comes in it will have an immediate impact and certain breaches could result in fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover. It is\, therefore\, something that should be on your radar now. \n11:15am \nCoffee Break \n11:45am \n“The role of the Data Protection Officer\, Cyber Security and Data Breach Reporting” – Matthew Phillips Data Protection Officer at Alert Logic \nUnder the GDPR it is a requirement for organisations whose core activities consist of processing special categories of data on a large scale to appoint a DPO. Matthew Phillips\, Data Protection Officer at Alert Logic\, will discuss the responsibilities and requirements of the DPO under the GDPR and will consider the importance of Cyber Security in the post GDPR era of mandatory breach reporting. \n12:30pm \nLunch \n  \nThis workshop is free to attend. For any questions\, please contact Isabelle. \n  \nFill out my online form.\nUse Wufoo templates to make your own HTML forms.
