DESCRIPTION:As part of a new "bio-bridging" initiative to ensure the UK is the "Partner of Choice for China" and other key emerging markets\, the initiative aims to open new gateways to partner with domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies based in China\, understand better the Chinese regulatory environment and introduce new sources of funding.  \nTo support this initiative UK Trade & Investment are organising a mission to China from the 21st to 28th September 2011. \nMission Programme: \nThe mission coincides with the 4th Annual BioBay Investor Forum to be held in Suzhou which is expected to attract more than 200 attendees and 50 VCs. The mission will then move to Shanghai\, which is now home to 18 of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies to meet senior officials from government\, pharmaceutical companies and investors. There will also be a visit to a China based multinational pharmaceutical group to discuss how to partner in China across the supply chain. DESCRIPTION:  \nWorkshop overview and aims\n\nThe first British Computer Society (BCS) Health in Wales/ehi2 joint workshop will be a full-day event\, held in conjunction with the 4th International Conference on Internet Technologies and Applications (ITA’11). \n \n\nThe workshop’s primary aims are: \n\nto bring together professionals\, policy makers\, and academics to further the development of BCS Health in Wales\, which is the new Welsh regional specialist group of BCS Health\, and\nto disseminate the ongoing work of ehi2\, the eHealth Industries Innovation Centre.\n\nBCS Health in Wales has the following objectives:\n\nto represent Wales Health Informatics Community (WHIC) on national and international groups to promote and influence health informatics.\nto act as a consultation mechanism for relevant national and international projects and standards on health informatics.\nto share good practice across WHIC and emanating from WHIC to the wider health community\, other agencies and organisations.\nto establish links with research\, academic\, educational\, government\, industry\, charities\, patient and community groups.\nto initiate health informatics projects with appropriate partners.\nto provide a Welsh health informatics perspective within the Welsh Assembly and UK government initiatives.\nto support WHIC to promote health informatics at national and international conferences.\nto support the BCS Charitable objectives.\n\nThe eHealth Industries Innovation (ehi2) Centre is a business-facing centre for the ehealth industries\, supporting the development of the ehealth sector in Wales. It was launched in December 2010. \nehi2 Centre works with companies in creating new\, innovative ehealth products and services with global market potential. It provides businesses with opportunities to test\, adapt\, improve and evaluate ehealth products and services in a safe and reliable environment to maximise their competitive advantage. It advises and assists companies and where needed\, facilitates access to clinicians\, academic experts\, NHS organisations\, and national NHS IT and ICT programmes. It works with the NHS and other health systems to identify needs for new products and services. \n  \nWorkshop format\n\nThe workshop will comprise: \n\na general meeting to plan the future of BCS Health in Wales and its relationship with other organizations such as ehi2\, the NHS\, academia\, and the health informatics industry\na paper session\, where participants will have the opportunity to present and/or demonstrate their health informatics work\n\nThe scope of the paper session is broad and covers all aspects of health technology ranging from technical hardware and software solutions to applications\, and the wider issues arising from them. We encourage submissions from both academic and commercial organizations. SUMMARY:Captum MasterClass: Valuing Technology
DESCRIPTION:Valuing technology presents some unique problems. This MasterClass will review commonly used techniques for technology valuation. It will assume no prior knowledge of valuation methodology\, and will focus on practicalities rather than corporate finance theory; a basic knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and accounting methods is assumed. It is intended primarily for early stage companies\, university technology transfer managers\, investors and their advisors\, and will include case studies and real examples. \nCaptum’s MasterClass: Valuing Technology is a non- mathematical introduction to technology valuation methods\, leading to Risk Adjusted Net Present Value\, the most widely used method.
