The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) has some exciting new funding from the Ministry of Defence and an opportunity for businesses in Wales to find out more.

DASA has a series of different contact and grant funding opportunities and a finance scheme within the Defence and Security Accelerator. I want to raise the awareness across Wales, of our latest grant funding mechanism; the Defence Technology Exploitation Programme (DTEP) which is designed primarily to strengthen either a current or future supply chains to Defence within the UK.

This initial £16 million grant funding mechanism is as a result of the Defence and Security Industrial Strategy, announced in March 2021. DTEP is here primarily to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the UK to develop innovative materials, technologies and processes. DTEP aims to inspire companies to win new business, develop industrial capabilities, and provide new cutting-edge answers to defence problems. The programme offers up to 50% grant funding for projects up to £1M to collaborations between UK-registered Lower Tier Suppliers and Higher Tier Suppliers developing projects which support the current and upcoming equipment capabilities and technology priorities of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). DASA will be holding a virtual event on 6^th June between 1100 and 1200 in collaboration with the Welsh Government titled “Growing Business in Defence using Innovation Funding from the Defence and Security Accelerator”. 

DASA are trying and get as many businesses in Wales who either already work with Defence or who are interested in working with Defence, aware of the opportunities available to them from the Defence and Secuirty Accelerator.
