Lung Health Check Pilot reaches the final of the Royal College of Physicians Excellence in Patient Care Awards 2025

Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) University Health Board, with the support of the National Strategic Clinical Network for Cancer, has been shortlisted as one of the top three finalists in the Patient Engagement category in the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Excellence in Patient Care Awards 2025.

This award recognises individual healthcare workers and teams who have made an extraordinary contribution to improving the patient experience, and placed patients’ needs, views and involvement at the heart of improvement. We’re honoured to be among those acknowledged this year.

The shortlisted project, ‘Patient-driven co-development of the Wales Lung Health Check Operational Pilot to optimise equitable participation’, focuses on the development of participant-facing materials and the related patient/public involvement through multiple groups including the Tenovus All-Wales Cancer Community.

The award ceremony will be held at The Spine, the RCP’s Northern home in Liverpool, on 10 July 2025. The event will bring together pioneering clinicians from the UK and around the world to celebrate their outstanding contributions to improving patient care through quality improvement and innovation.

Dr Sinan Eccles, Consultant in Respiratory Medicine, said: “It’s a real privilege to be shortlisted for this award. It recognises the work our team and patient representatives have put into the project to make a meaningful difference, demonstrating our commitment to putting patients at the heart of what we do, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for them.”
