New Welsh Government initiative to help SMEs based in Wales.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are a core component of Wales’ RD&I offer to businesses. Last September Welsh Government announced an increased funding contribution for eligible KTPs to make them more accessible and cost effective for SMEs based in Wales, and to encourage more businesses to benefit from the programme. Originally, applications faced a 27 January 2021 deadline but this has now been extended to 30 June 2021.
Due to the current difficult economic climate, this newly extended offer will allow eligible SME businesses in Wales to claim 75% of the project costs of a KTP.
KTP, and the new Management KTP, creates a collaborative partnership between a business and either a university, college, research organisation or catapult. Together the partnership works on a strategic project that improves competitiveness, productivity and performance. Partnerships jointly develop the proposal to address a specific business need and must submit their proposal for assessment by midday on 30 June 2021. Only applications received during this time will be eligible for this funding.
The partnership can vary in length from one to three years according to the needs of the business. Businesses from all sectors are welcome to apply.

Projects can only be submitted by a UK University, FE College, Research Organisation or Catapult. The post created by the funding must be located in Wales to qualify for this funding.
