Health and Care Research Wales: Brain Repair and Intracranial Neurotherapeutics (BRAIN) Unit
Type of organisation: Academic, NHS, Contract Research & Testing
Funded by Welsh Government via the Health and Care Research Wales infrastructure, the Brain Repair and Intracranial Neurotherapeutics (BRAIN) is a research unit developing novel therapeutics and treatment delivery systems for neurological conditions.
The BRAIN Unit is a group of leading clinicians and scientists who are researching ways to develop and deliver novel cell, drug and growth factor therapies to patients with currently untreatable neurological neurodegenerative diseases. We focus on 4 main conditions:
- Huntington’s Disease
- Epilepsy
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Parkinson’s Disease
At BRAIN we believe that active involvement from members of the public leads to research that is more relevant, more reliable and more likely to be used to improve health and social care services. BRAIN Involve is the public and patient involvement group that helps to inform our research activities. It is made up of people who are, or have been, affected by the neurological diseases that we research.
