Tell the HRA about your older studies
The Health Research Authority (HRA) will be getting in touch with study sponsors in the coming weeks to establish whether studies from before 2018 have been completed.
There are a large number of studies from this time for which the HRA has received no amendments or information on completion. Contacting sponsors for more information is one of the things that the HRA is doing to ensure that there is an accurate record of research reviewed and approved by the HRA.
What happens next
Where there are more than 20 older studies with a single sponsor, the HRA will send sponsors one email with a list of all the studies that need to be checked. Sponsors will have a minimum of four weeks to reply but can tell the HRA if they need more time.
Why is the HRA doing this?
The HRA is making some changes to the systems they use to review and approve research and want to make sure that they only move study data that’s still needed. This will also help to save money by only storing data which is needed.
If you want to check anything or have any questions, please email the team.
