3 of the top 10 most profitable Welsh companies are in the Life Sciences sector
Wales Business Insider’s March/April edition 2011 names the top 50 most profitable Welsh companies.
In the top 10 are Life Science companies Biomet UK (6), a manufacturer of medical reconstructive device based in Bridgend; Convatec (7), a manufacturer of ostamy, incontinence and skincare products based in Deeside; and Ipsen Biopharm (10), a pharmaceutical company based in Wrexham.
Other Life Science companies featured in the top 50 were Gyrus Medical; Dixondale; Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Products; and Kimball Electronics (Wales).
The minimum profit figure to be eligible for an entry in this year’s list was £4.4m, up from £3.5m in 2009, hinting at economic recovery if not for Wales as a whole, but certainly showing growth within the Life Sciences sector.
