CIC’s invest in innovative medical diagnostic company to help improve access to healthcare

Albion Care Alliance Ltd, a partnership of four not for profit companies that left the NHS between 2010 and 2011, has invested in innovative medical diagnostic company, Time for Medicine, to help transform the delivery of healthcare services in Medway, Essex, Hull and Kingston-upon-Thames.
The Albion Care Alliance Ltd partners are Medway Community Healthcare CIC, Provide CIC (Essex), City Health Care Partnership CIC (Hull) and Your Healthcare CIC (Kingston, Surrey). Albion has participated in the latest funding round of Time for Medicine, a spin-out company from the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Founded by clinicians, Time for Medicine’s mission is to offer healthcare closer to people’s homes, so reducing the need for hospital visits & reducing NHS costs and waiting times.
Time for Medicine’s cloud based “telehealth” platform allows hospital based clinicians to assess patient conditions remotely, facilitating the identification of critical cases, the collection of required data before an appointment and, in some cases, the diagnosis of a patient’s condition without a physical visit to an NHS facility. Time for Medicine’s “telehealth” platform has been developed with the assistance of over 40 of the UK’s leading specialist clinicians, and covers the symptoms that are most often referred to outpatient appointments, from Allergy to Urology.
Martin Riley, Albion Director and Managing Director of Medway Community Healthcare said: “We are excited to assist an innovative UK company developing truly disruptive medical technology and are keen to explore collaborative ways in which it can be put into action and make a real difference to the lives of the communities we serve. Time for Medicine’s strong clinical ethos was a significant factor behind our decision”.
Dr. Paul Williams, Consultant Immunologist at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and Founder of Time for Medicine said: “We are delighted to receive this expression of support from Albion and look forward to working with the clinical and management teams of the Alliance members to deploy our platform for the benefit of patients”.
