The BioEurope Spring Conference is an established annual partnering event for the Life Sciences sector in Europe.

The 2013 event will be held in Barcelona from 11th – 13th March and brings together international decision makers from over 40 countries with representation from Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. The 2012 Conference was attended by 2,157 delegates from 1,304 companies who engaged in 11,172 one-to-one meetings. It also featured a dynamic program with 135 company presentations, panels and workshops delivered by leading industry executives and thought leaders.

To fully exploit the opportunities provided by this flagship Bio-Europe partnering conference, UKTI Barcelona is holding an exclusive networking reception on Wednesday 13th March. The reception, hosted by the UK Consul General for Barcelona, Andrew Gwatkin, will include invitation-only entrance for high-level stakeholders from the British and Spanish biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.

The Barcelona region is a globally-recognised hub for biotechnology and pharmaceutical. It is home to over 300 biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, including names such as, Almirall, Esteve and Ferrer. 60% of Spanish pharmaceutical companies are located in Barcelona, including 9 science and technology parks, 12 universities, 60 research centres and over 200 hospitals.

The Welsh Government will not be leading a Trade Mission to this event, but any company interested can attend through our Overseas Business Development Visit Programme, which contributes 50% towards costs. Please see attached documents for more information on the Programme.
