UK Trade and Investment are organising the Life Sciences market visit to Japan in February 2014 with a focus on cancer, ie the leading cause of death in Japan since 1980s.

If you have innovative products, technologies or services which should help Japanese life sciences companies’ efficient development of their cancer related products, this trade mission will make an indispensable opportunity for you to enter Japan, ie the world 2nd largest market in terms of sales of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, as well as healthcare expenditure.  And, we strongly suggest you visit the Export to Japan website to find out more about this project and register your interest, by Friday 6 December.

For information, the mission will involve participation fees and provide you with the opportunities to:

• Access key decision-makers: all the major pharmaceutical companies have attended previous mission events.
• Develop your business partners in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of cancer: the event invitations will be sent to more than 2,000 life sciences contacts.
• Attend seminar presentations, panel exhibitions, and networking receptions in Tokyo and Osaka, ie Japan’s 2 major life sciences hot spots
• Conduct one-to-one business meetings with your potential partners: we arranged more than 100 meetings for the trade mission in Feb 2013

A provisional programme of the mission is:

Sun 2nd Feb – Arrive in Tokyo

Mon 3rd Feb – Market briefing by industry specialist and/or tour to Japan’s leading cancer research centre (tbc)

Tues 4th Feb  – Trade Mission event  (Tokyo, British Embassy)
Wed 5th Feb – Free for own arrangement / Travel to Osaka
Thur 6th Feb – Trade Mission Event  (Osaka, Hilton Hotel)
Fri 7th Feb – Free for own arrangements.

Support, both financial and market research, are available to:

• SMEs to help cover mission expenses under UKTI’s Market Access Programme (£700)
• Companies requiring support to identify potential partners prior to the visit under UKTI’s Overseas Market Introduction Service (application by Fri 8th Nov)
