Putting proven innovations into practice at pace and scale

This key event – the second in a series of Innovation Exchanges – will focus on the opportunity to put proven innovations in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes into practice at pace and scale throughout the East Midlands. It is organised and hosted by the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network in partnership with the Leicester Diabetes Centre and Medilink East Midlands.

EMAHSN, supported by our NHS partner organisations throughout the East Midlands, has designated diabetes prevention and treatment as one of our key clinical priorities.

Why attend?

The event will bring together senior representatives from NHS service providers, clinicians, public health organisations, commissioners, social care, patients, industry and the third-sector to build shared understanding, develop collaboration and support the uptake of proven innovations, focused on addressing one of the region’s fastest growing healthcare challenges.

The programme will include:

• Expert speakers to outline the diabetes healthcare challenge, including Kamlesh Khunti, Professor of Primary Care, Diabetes and Vascular Medicine at the University of Leicester and Co-Director of the Leicester Diabetes Centre
• The East Midlands situation, challenges and opportunities from clinician, commissioner, third-sector and patient perspectives
• Networking opportunities and information areas
• Breakout sessions on the key priority areas of diabetes prevention, diagnosis and treatment, chronic symptom treatment
• An opportunity for companies to present overviews of relevant proven innovations
• Keynote speech by Professor Jonathan Valabhji, National Clinical Director for Obesity and Diabetes, NHS England
• Details of the EMAHSN programme to support putting innovations into practice
