As part of a new "bio-bridging" initiative to ensure the UK is the "Partner of Choice for China" and other key emerging markets, the initiative aims to open new gateways to partner with domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies based in China, understand better the Chinese regulatory environment and introduce new sources of funding.

To support this initiative UK Trade & Investment are organising a mission to China from the 21st to 28th September 2011.

Mission Programme:

The mission coincides with the 4th Annual BioBay Investor Forum to be held in Suzhou which is expected to attract more than 200 attendees and 50 VCs. The mission will then move to Shanghai, which is now home to 18 of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies to meet senior officials from government, pharmaceutical companies and investors. There will also be a visit to a China based multinational pharmaceutical group to discuss how to partner in China across the supply chain. The final leg of the mission will join up with The 4th UK-China Joint Economic Trade Commission (JETC) Healthcare Trade & Investment Working Group Meeting in Beijing, which will provide high level engagement and involvement from both British and Chinese governments and facilitate further partnering meetings with pharmaceutical companies and investors based in the Beijing area.

The programme will include opportunities to present to both Chinese companies and investors and have one-to-one partnering events, which will provide a broad basis for doing business in China.
