The development and evaluation of predictive algorithms using Artificial Intelligence (AI) call

The Invention for Innovation (i4i)Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) programmes invite applications led by, or in collaboration with, industry seeking to develop, refine and evaluate predictive algorithms using artificial intelligence (AI) for health and social care.

Timetable

  • HTA Stage 1 applications opened on 22 Feb 2022, 13.00
  • EME Stage 1 applications opened on 22 Feb 2022, 13:00
  • i4i Stage 1 applications open: 23 March 2022
  • Applicant Q&A session: w/c 4 April 2022
  • Deadline for all stage 1 applications: 10 May 2022, 13:00

The i4i Programme Development Awards support translational medtech research and development. Applications to i4i are required to have demonstrated proof of concept and have a clear pathway towards adoption and commercialisation.

EME primarily funds clinical trials and other robustly designed studies that test the efficacy of interventions. EME also supports the testing of hypotheses around the mechanism of action of interventions within clinical trials. Applications to EME are required to demonstrate some initial evidence that the technology may be efficacious in patients.

HTA supports research into the effectiveness of interventions that are immediately useful to patients, clinical practice, and policy or decision makers. Applications to HTA are required to demonstrate that efficacy has already been established.

Please read the detailed research specification for more information about this joint industry call on developing and evaluating predictive algorithms using AI.

A launch webinar was held on 28 February. If you would like further information on the webinar please contact the i4iEME or HTA programme teams.
