Bloom Standard UK

Type of organisation: Medical Technology & Diagnostics

Bloom standard is developing an self-driving ultrasound technology that allows front line health staff to screen the youngest patients. Our flagship technology, the EVA (Echo View Automation) is a 3-minute spot check device that anyone, anywhere can use to earlier diagnose and refer patients to higher levels or care, or avert unnecessary transports, allowing effective triage at the point of care. intend to provide a critical and standardized diagnostic tool to detect respiratory problems earlier – for children in their local communities. If successful developed and deployed in the UK, this technology and the associated protocols could be adopted swiftly in other settings across the EU and globally, reducing the mortality and morbidity of respiratory diseases and cardiac conditions in babies and children. Market entry has been targeted to the jurisdictions where the team has strong embedded relationships with health ministries and public health purchasers (B2G) to start. The team has established a working collaboration with Swansea University, HTC and LSHW, and will look to expand these partnerships with Cardiff and additional health boards during the R+D and pre-commercialization stages. We were able to de-risk the product ahead of schedule using previous grant funding and investment. Bloom Standard is currently raising pre-seed funding of 750K (and can align with matching fund programmes as needed) to:
– Leverage momentum by increasing by 3X the number of prototypes available for use in field trials
– Add 4 critical engineering and product dev hires in Wales
– Accelerate regulatory submission timeline, data collection and early publication of results
– Ensure sustainable office, lab infrastructure to accommodate growth
– Further partnership w Welsh Government and partners on regional supplier and manufacturing capacities, cost of goods
