Eakin Surgical shortlisted for Insider’s Made in Wales Awards 2022

Eakin Surgical are thrilled to announce that they have been shortlisted for the ‘Medical, Life Sciences & Healthcare Award’ at this year’s Insider Made in Wales Awards.

The award, chosen by Insider’s panel of independent judges, celebrates the pharmaceutical, biomedical, biotechnology, health product or medical devices company that have had the biggest impact in Wales and beyond.

The company was established in Cardiff over twenty years ago and they are proud to have made a great impact on patient outcomes in the region and across the South Wales area in that time. Eakin Surgical was founded in response to the challenges faced cleaning surgical instruments – difficult to clean instruments are commonly associated with high risks of cross-contamination, representing significant costs to the NHS.

Today they continue our mission to help clinicians – across the UK and worldwide – protect patients by providing high-quality single use surgical instruments, while ensuring our business contributes positively to the community where they operate.

Jon Blastland, Commercial Director at Eakin Surgical said: “Despite the disruptions of the covid-19 pandemic, our manufacturing facility in Cardiff has remained operational during the pandemic. Due to the critical situation, we also worked to ensure that patient care was not adversely affected by a shortage of supply. Our company has also been proud to step up to support the NHS, using our skills and expertise to support the provision of PPE to help protect frontline NHS staff against COVID-19 and well as contributing to the jobs markets in Cardiff.
