EIT Health has two funding calls, Transformative Healthcare Instrument 2026 and Innovation Uptake Call, open currently.

Transformative Healthcare Instrument 2026
EIT Health is offering between €300,000 and €500,000 in funding to support high-potential European start-ups developing innovative solutions in biotech, medtech, digital health, AI, and biomarkers or diagnostics. The programme is designed to help companies advance product development, strengthen commercialisation strategies, and prepare for their next stage of fundraising while addressing unmet clinical needs across Europe.
Who can apply?
The THI is intended to support private companies, specifically micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with at least 4 full-time equivalent employees. Eligible companies must have closed a minimum total equity investment of 2,000,000 EUR within the previous 36-months, with at least one new investor contributing. Funded projects must be at the Innovation Maturity Levels (IML) listed below, depending on their industry focus.
- IML ≥ 5 for Biotech (Safety/Toxicity study stage).
- IML≥ 6 in Medtech (Initial clinical PoC)
- IML ≥ 7 for Digital (Market validation)
- IML ≥ 7 for Biomarker / Diagnostics
Funding
Projects may request between 300,000 and 500,000 EUR in EIT Health funding. EIT Health will fund a maximum of 50% of the project’s total costs. The company must secure the remaining 50% co-funding from other sources.

Innovation Uptake Call
EIT Health is calling for mature digital, data-driven and AI-powered healthcare solutions ready to scale across European markets. Selected projects will receive funding to accelerate market entry, generate real-world evidence, strengthen market access, and support the adoption of clinically validated innovations across healthcare systems.
Who can apply?
- Consortia of at least two independent legal entities from different countries
- Must include partners from at least two sides of the Knowledge Triangle (Industry, Research, Education)
- Led by a Commercialising Entity (SME or industry player) responsible for bringing the solution to market
- Applicants must be legal entities (individuals cannot apply)
- Entities must be established in eligible Horizon Europe countries (EU Member States, associated countries, or eligible third countries)
Funding
- Total call budget: up to €5.2 million
- Up to 8 projects funded
- Maximum funding per project: €650,000
- Funding covers up to 50% of total project costs (co-funding required)
- SMEs leading projects receive €400,000–€500,000 within the grant
