Health Technology Wales seeks Chair for Appraisal Panel
Health Technology Wales is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable care professional to support the development of national guidance on innovative health and care technologies in Wales by chairing the HTW Appraisal Panel.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to work at a national level supporting evidence-informed decision making on the adoption of medical technologies in health and care settings by chairing a multidisciplinary panel of health and care professionals.
The HTW Appraisal Panel is an advisory group that considers the strength of critically appraised evidence and associated uncertainties in the context of health and care in Wales. Discussion may include issues such as safety, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, organisational aspects and patient and carer considerations.
The Appraisal Panel will also help HTW with identification of national priority topics, evaluation of uptake of evidence-based advice and facilitate engagement with stakeholders. Its members include representatives from the local NHS health boards, national peer groups in NHS Wales, social care organisations and other key stakeholders including patient, carer and public representatives, academics and industry.
The role of the Appraisal Panel Chair includes:
- Contributing to the strategic direction of HTW to ensure it reflects Welsh health and care priorities.
- Chairing the Appraisal Panel to ensure appropriate discussion, clear decision-making, and transparency of process in the development of evidence-informed national guidance for Welsh health and care systems.
- Supporting HTW staff to finalise HTW outputs and ensure clear communications with stakeholders.
- Leading stakeholder engagement to develop the reputation of HTW and encourage buy-in of health and care organisations.
The post holder is expected to have experience of chairing multidisciplinary groups, expertise and interest in the field of health technology assessment and health policy and the ability to lead, influence and motivate all HTW stakeholders.
This position requires a commitment of 4 days per month for the period 31st March 2025 to 31st March 2027. This may be renewed by mutual agreement after this initial term.
The remuneration for this role is £337 per day.
HTW is based in Cardiff however, the majority of the role can be undertaken remotely.
