MediWales are expanding their team and are recruiting for an Events and Engagement Coordinator, please see below the job description.

Job Profile
Place of work: Blended home and office in Cardiff, when restrictions allow
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 9am-4.30pm
34.5hrs/week
Start date: April 2022

Introduction
MediWales is the life science network for Wales, a not-for-profit, independent company that creates business opportunities and partnerships for our members.
We support 200 members from the life science sector including medical technology, diagnostic and pharmaceutical companies, NHS health boards, university departments and professional services and suppliers.
MediWales achieves their objectives by:
• Organising networking events and conferences
• Providing a high profile Annual Innovation Awards Ceremony and Dinner
• Creating widely distributed publications
• Consistently providing a sophisticated package of online resources – website, social media, online magazines, mail outs
• Providing high level representation on influential boards and panels
• Giving one-to-one company assistance, signposting and advice to members and stakeholders

Job Purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to support the events and communications activity of MediWales.

The right candidate will be given the responsibility for some really exciting projects and events, working alongside a friendly and hardworking team.

We are looking for an individual with strong skills in marketing, communication and relationship building. A technical knowledge of life science is not necessary, as you will learn about the sector within the role.

This position is ideal for a new graduate or someone beginning their career in this area. This is a great opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility and grow your role within the organisation, developing a network across Wales.

Key Activities

• Help organise a series of events including large conferences
• Assist with day to day communications with MediWales’ network members
• Attend external events and networking sessions, representing MediWales
• Develop relationships with current and future members
• Help maintain and develop social media and web presence
• Deliver promotional and marketing activity
• Sell tickets and sponsorship for upcoming events

Person Specification

Essential
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject including Business Management, English, Media and Communications
• Experience in customer service or a public facing role
• Excellent organisational skills
• Strong all-round communication skills and comfortable on the phone
• Excellent IT skills
• Strong written communication
• Ability to prioritise work in order to meet competing deadlines
• Proven ability to build relationships with individuals at all levels of seniority

Desirable
• Experience using and editing websites
• Experience of using mail campaign software Mailchimp
• Experience of arranging conferences and events (in person or online)
• Experience of using a Customer Relationship Management system
