Science Minister David Willetts released “Strategy for UK Life Sciences: One Year On” – an interesting read that impacts all of us in the sector.

At the Genesis conference, David Willetts, with reference to the “Strategy for UK Life Sciences – One Year On” report, spoke about how encouraged he is by the progress made since the launch of the Government’s Strategy for UK Life Sciences a year ago.

You can read his full speech by clicking here. The strategy aims at achieving three main goals:

* improve collaboration between academia, industry and the NHS.

* the skills and pipeline of researchers, clinicians and technicians – without whom collaboration could not be properly realised.

* the right business environment in the UK to encourage investment, so that we could translate discovery into real benefits for patients, support innovation through the translational funding gap, and remove bureaucratic barriers to the early adoption and diffusion of medical breakthroughs in the NHS
