Wales Life Sciences Investment Fund promoted to international audience

The £100 million Wales Life Sciences Investment Fund – which has a remit to attract companies from the UK and the rest of the world to Wales – will be promoted to an international audience this week at BioTrinity 2013.

The Welsh Government is one of the sponsors of the three day European Biopartnering and Investment Conference where the focus is on partnering R&D companies with big pharma and biomedical investors.

Held at Newbury Race Course on May 14-16 BioTrinity, a Venture Capital focussed Conference and the largest in the UK within the life sciences sector, attracted 800 delegates from 26 countries last year.

As well as promoting the Wales Life Sciences Investment Fund, the Welsh Government will also use the occasion to champion the achievements of companies and organisations in the Life Science sector in Wales and help raise the profile of the sector.

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said:

“Sponsoring this key event provides a good opportunity to highlight what’s happening in Wales within the sector and the expertise available in Wales. It supports our strategy to grow the sector and promote it on an international stage.”

Welsh Government sponsorship will provide an opportunity to network with leading international pharmaceutical, investor, biotech, medtech and related service companies to generate new contacts and foreign direct leads.

The Conference programme will showcase the best of Europe’s emerging and clinical stage companies and features panel discussions on innovations in financing, alliances and licensing and networking through pre-arranged private partnering meetings.
