MP Visits Port Talbot to Explore Innovation and Technology-Driven Care
Care Safe has hosted Stephen Kinnock, MP for Aberafan Maesteg, for an official visit to its Port Talbot premises.
The firm said the visit provided an opportunity for Mr Kinnock to meet the leadership team, engage with frontline staff, and see first-hand how the organisation’s technology-led approach is enhancing care provision for vulnerable adults in the community.
During the visit, Mr Kinnock was shown Care Safe’s latest digital care advancements, including its real-time monitoring platform (Care Safe Live – i-Hippo), wearable smart devices and doorstep diagnostic tools. He also learned how staff are being trained to utilise emerging technologies to improve health outcomes, safety standards, and operational efficiency. This progress has been supported in collaboration with the Wales Inward Investment team and Port Talbot’s Economic Development team, helping to strengthen local capability and innovation in care delivery.
Samit Kumar Biswas, CEO & Founder of Care Safe, said “Welcoming Stephen Kinnock to our premises was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate how our approach — combining skilled care professionals with enabling technologies — is already improving quality of life and independence for individuals in our community. We are committed to continuing this momentum and building a strong, future-ready care infrastructure in Port Talbot.”
As part of the discussion, Mr Kinnock was briefed on how Care Safe has been able to accelerate this work with support received earlier in the year which supports local businesses across the region. Care Safe applied for the funding in May 2025 and received the investment in three instalments. The funding covered 65% of the organisation’s costs for acquiring doorstep blood-testing devices, moving and handling equipment, smartwatches, software and hardware development for Care Safe Live, computers and workforce training. Care Safe has already purchased and deployed these devices and utilised the marketing support to enhance awareness of its services.
Stephen Kinnock MP said: “Great to visit Care Safe on the Baglan Innovation Park and see firsthand how Transition Board funding is driving forward business and making a real impact locally. This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking capability Port Talbot needs — technology-enabled services, investment in workforce training, and a commitment to building sustainable and high-skilled employment in our region. Care Safe is not only improving how community care is delivered but also contributing to the long-term economic resilience of Port Talbot.”
