Society of Biology: Battling Infection

16.03.2015 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Join the new South Wales branch committee for a discussion about the main infection related issues facing us today.

Despite impressive scientific advances, infectious diseases remain one of the major threats to public health. As we have seen from recent events both locally and globally, there are still many controversial issues surrounding how we treat and prevent diseases ranging from measles to Ebola.

We invite you to join us for free at this public discussion with an eminent panel of academic, medical and policy experts from the South Wales region. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The discussion will cover key topics such as vaccination, immunology, viruses, the use antibiotics and antimicrobials, the emergence of ‘superbugs’ and any other issues or queries related to the hot topic of “Battling Infection”.

After the discussion there will be an opportunity to meet the panelists and other Society of Biology members to find out more about the topics discussed and the Society and its work. There will also be several interactive displays by researchers involved in infectious diseases.

  • Professor Rosemary Barnes, Cardiff Institute of Immunity & Infection
