The Barcelona region is an essential hub for nano and biotechnology; biotech companies from the Barcelona region have an estimated turnover of €156 million per year; there are 37 research centres in bio-nanotechnology; and Barcelona is the second city in the world, after Boston, for the origin of scientific publications on nanomedicine (according to PubMed). The event will include keynote speakers (Dr Mike Fisher, Theme Manager Healthcare & Life Sciences, NanoKTN; Dr Josep Samitier, Associate Director of the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC); Jon Mowles, UKTI Life Sciences Specialist; Carlos Lurigados, Project Director of Innovation at Biocat).

This UKTI event will provide UK companies access to the business opportunities on offer from the strong and ever-growing Spanish market in nano and biotechnology for healthcare. This event carries a fee of £888 under the Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS). Taking part as an exhibiting British company will include:

• Opportunity to present your company and particular products/services to high level Spanish stakeholders and decision makers from the extensive range of biotechnology companies from the region as well as local hospitals, bio-clusters and research centres.
